Matthew worked as a producer at Blindeye films for 5 years, making music promos for the likes of KASABIAN and THE VAMPS, and commercials for brands such as LENOVO and HSBC. He also produced several short films, including CAMELOT, which screened at festivals around the world, and CLEAN SHEETS which was viewed over 80k times on Vimeo. As a producer, his feature film KEYS TO THE KINGDON (previously HACKNEY MARSH) was selected for development through Film London’s 2016-17 Microwave scheme.
In 2016 he turned his attention to writing and directing, making music promos for AMBER RUN, DAVID GRAY and RUKHSANA MERRISE, as well as commercial content for ADIDAS and WAHL. In 2015/16 he wrote and directed RUMBLE, his first narrative short which went to on screen internationally at festivals including Phoenix, Sao Paulo and Manchester.
In 2018 he directed his second short film, ‘BETWEEN THE DEVIL AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA’, which was co-written with Edward Cripps and part funded by the BFI/Film London’s, London Calling Shorts Scheme. The film is set to screen at festivals in 2019.
In November 2018, his short western script, NO ORDINARY STRANGER, was selected as one of the 3 winners of the Shore Scripts screenwriting competition. It placed 2nd from over 3500 entries.
He is a BFI Network x BAFTA Crew member.
